Incorrect ink level status generally occurs when ink cartridges are refilled. most hp printers store the serial number of cartridges in the printer's internal memory . when the same cartridge is refilled, the printer does not recognize it as a refilled cartridge.. I am becoming rather desperate about my problem of reseting or disabling ink level status on my printer after i refilled my cartridges. i used new re-manufactured cartridges with new chips and tried everything either on you tube or google and nothing is working.. Resetting ink levels in hp printers in hp 22, 28 and 57 cartridges put tape over contact #1 as shown in the picture to the left. place the cartridge back into the printer with the tape still stuck onto the cartridge.. Printer hint #2 - always buy a printer with separate black and separate color cartridges. printer hint #3 - always buy a wireless printer with an ethernet port for backup. special hint: there is a 97.2% (and increasing) chance the information you seek is in the user guide/manual or on your printers hp support page..
